Many of our patients at American Foot and Leg Specialists are diabetics, and typically diabetics are prone to get wounds. There are specific wound treatments that we offer here to help heal wounds.
Several of the first line of wound care products, ointment or cream that's applied daily, will help heal wounds. There's multiple compression wraps that will also help reduce swelling, which tends to inhibit wound healing. And also offloading. Offloading is a big factor with wound healing. Most wounds can be caused by pressure, and if we take pressure off of the wound, we'll help heal the wound. If these things fail, there are other advanced wound care treatments, such as wound graphs that will also help enhance wound healing, as well as other treatment options with the hyperbaric oxygen chamber, which we can also incorporate, that can increase wound healing from wounds that tend to be a little slow in healing.
We can also refer our patients to other medical specialists if there is any issues with poor circulation or an increase in infection that also needs to be further evaluated by a specialist.
